DANTE'S HOUSE MUSEUM THE HOUSE OF THE MOST
FAMOUS WRITER OF 1200

Dante's house is located between the little square and the street named after Saint Margaret, Santa Margherita, next to the Torre della Castagna and what is left of the church of San Martino al Vescovo. Even though built in the first decade of the twentieth century, it is unquestionably one of Florence's most evocative buildings. Here, in the heart of in the medieval city, where according to documentary evidence the houses of the Alighieri family stood, Dante was born around the end of May or beginning of June 1265, under the sign of Gemini.
